How do I Audition?

1. Look over all of the acting sides given below. (Coming Soon)
2. Pick which character you'd prefer to read for.
3. You do NOT have to memorize any of these parts!
4. Practice performing it aloud with a partner.
5. Make some physical choices as the character while you speak your lines.
6. Show up and do what you practiced for the director.
7. You are being considered for all roles and not just the role you read for. :)

*Pro Tip: Try to have fun with this! Acting is an art, not a science. There is no exact right choice or wrong choice in any scene. Whatever you do, just try to commit fully and have a good time!

What happens at Auditions?

Is this your first audition at FHS? No worries! You are not alone!

Tuesday/Wednesday
1. Everyone will show up at the audition and be asked to complete a form and have their picture taken.
2. Everyone will participate in a warm up together to shake out our nervous energy and get our voice and body warmed up!
3. Everyone will take turns reading a scene they chose that will be posted under "Audition Materials".
4.
Everyone will have fun as they watch you make choices as a character!
5. The director may have you read for multiple parts and even direct you to try a new choice!
6. The director may ask you to look over other roles to try at callbacks, so be sure to look over them and practice what the director asked you to read for before Thursday.

7 Tips for Audition Success

1. Be positive & kind to everyone. *This is the number 1 rule of thumb for all theatre!* :)
2. Research the play before auditions.
3. Look over ALL of the sides before auditions. (You may be asked to read from more than one)
4. Pick the character you feel best fits you and practice their part before auditions.
5. Make strong choices with both your voice and movement.
6. Be open to take direction and try new things.
7. Have FUN! Remember, it's called a PLAY for a reason! :)
