On Tuesday, March 29, we will finish reading the play script of "Lost in Yonkers" and hopefully finish watching the movie version, as well. On Thursday, we will discuss the work of the Scene Designer, Costume Designer, and Producer. Assignments for creating the Ground Plan and Costume Chart for the play will accompany the discussion. Next week, we will take a tour of the PAC with Mr. Rosenaur to get a quick overview of technical theatre terms and equipment.

On Tuesday, March 8, we completed our brief Shakespeare unit. We also began looking at all the jobs involved in Theatre Production. We will be reading the play "Lost in Yonkers" and looking for clues for the scene, costume, lighting and sound designers. We will complete a ground plan and a costume plot for the play, as well as sound and lighting cue sheets. Assignment documents will be posted soon.
Time to study Shakespeare! On Monday, students wrote simple conversations with a partner and then modified them to become more Shakespearean. This was an effort to make the language more accessible. On Wednesday, we will watch videos with biographical info on Will Shakespeare and explanation of Iambic Pentameter. After the videos, we will read a few scenes from "A Midsummer Night's Dream," paying particular attention to the staging. Homework will be to translate Jacques' All the World's a Stage speech from "As You Like It" into modern, student speak language.
