Makeup kits have arrived! We are doing our first lesson together. Students will fill in the notes as we learn the most basic makeup techniques. On Friday, January 20, students will do the application again, on their own, for the grade. Please see the notes and instructional video below.
Today in class, we took our first notes in our class notebook, learning why we use theatrical makeup and a bit about how makeup does what it does. Please see the class syllabus, course notebook, and first set of notes attached below.
Thursday and Monday, students will use Gross and Gory techniques to create Injury Victim character makeup on a partner.
For the next few weeks, students will do the work of the makeup artist and the faces of their classmates. We have already completed the most basic, Yourself only More-so, and have done half of the Yourself only Older applications. Next week we will complete those as well as Old Age Character (Evil or Happy).
Attend a performance of our fall play, The Night of January 16th, and write a critique to earn up to 50 bonus points. This can replace a makeup application if you are struggling to make-up one you have missed. Performances are Thursday-Saturday, October 27-29 at 7:00 pm and Sunday, October 30 at 2:00 pm in the FHS Performing Arts Center. Student tickets are $7.
