THESPIAN Festival 2019
"We Wish to go to the Festival!"
Every year, the Arkansas Thespian Society hosts a 3 day long festival to compete, showcase, and workshop talented young actors/technicians from troupes all across the state! This festival pushes students to create quality work and join together in friendship in the beautiful art that is theatre! Based on the outcome of the festival, troupes are eligable to travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to attend the International Thespian Festival!
Fayetteville High School Thespian Troupe 717 attended the State Thespian Festival held in Russellville, Arkansas from February 7th-9th. At this festival, students were adjudicated in solo & duet performances, technical elements, short film, group scenes and musicals. The festival offered workshops to our students to strengthen their artistic crafts in dance, acting, technical theatre, college/audition prep, and several others theatre skills lead by talented presenters from across the United States. Students also auditioned to colleges from across the nation. This year’s total scholarship offerings to our Arkansas Thespians was over $1.5 million!
The top ranked Troupe's from across the state were selected to perform their One Act performances to be showcased for the festival. Fayetteville was selected and brought a
play entitled "Lockdown", directed by Thespian President, Warren McCombs. The performance was given a Superior Rating by all judges and a special award for Student Direction and Ensemble. The troupe was also given the All State Crew award to Warren McCombs, as well as, All State Cast awards to Noah Chacon, Jacob Raebiger, and Kamilla Sarvestani for their performance.
At the end of the festival, each of the 13 events are showcased to demonstrate to the students the highest quality of performance. Of the 40+ troupes in attendance, Fayetteville showcased in Duet Acting, led by members Sarah Grace Baxter & Noah Chacon!
Each festival is led by STO's (Student Thespian Officer's). Our very own Sarah Grace Baxter was elected to be 1 of 6 STO's for next year's festival! This is a high honor for our troupe and school! We are very proud of Sarah Grace representing Fayetteville High School and Troupe 717!
