We began Costume History Project presentations. Mrs. Sone had the first two periods, Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece. We then jumped forward a millennium and a half to the Elizabethan Period.

We will have project presentations on January 21. We will be working on the Vest Project each class day through December 15, when the vests are due at the end of the period. We will begin next semester with the Costume History project. The final exam will cover general costume design & technology information and AWAD terms. Students will receive a review guide sheet soon.
Our commercial pattern lesson took longer than usual, so today will be our final Swatch Book work day. Those that are finished with the Swatch Book will move on to Vest Project. ALL students will be working on Vests in class starting Wednesday. Anyone who needs to complete their Swatch Book, will need to do so on their own time or during advisory.
Students will learn how to measure the body in order to select the appropriate pattern size. Students will learn how to read and use the commercial pattern in preparation for the Vest Construction Project. Students please return your assignment form, indicating whether you are making the Vest project for yourself OR if you are making the Vest project for FHS Costume Stock. If you are providing your own supplies, you MUST have your pattern in class on Tuesday, November 10. We will be using the patterns during an in-class exercise. Sone will have patterns for all those who are making the vest for FHS stock. Remember: the Swatch Book is due at the end of class Friday, November 6. If you do not complete the Swatch Book at that time, you will have one more class period, November 12, to work. Otherwise, you will need to complete the techniques either at home or during advisory. All students will be working on the Vest Project from November 16 until the due date of December 7. The final three days of class this semester, students will be working on the Costume History Project. These history projects will be presented during the final exam period Monday, December 21.
Students will continue working on the basic sewing skills to complete the Swatch Book assignment. The next assignment is the Costume Construction Garment Project. Details will be posted soon.
