This week in class we have been working on creating/developing characters and writing with their voice in mind. Wednesday we wrote blog entries as an invented character and commented on someone else's blog in our character's voice. Friday, we began developing full character monologues. These will be peer critiqued on Tuesday and then revised. Monologues will be presented Thursday. See the assignment below if you missed class today.
On Monday, we read a chapter in our Drama textbook entitled "The Dawn of Theatre." Students learned that while drama is believed to have originated in tribal or ritualistic storytelling, The Ancient Greeks are credited with developing drama into an organized theatre system. Students are answering questions based on the information in the chapter. On Wednesday, we will begin a class reading of an abridged version of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. Ultimately, students will take a quiz over the content of the play.
