Shakespeare!

Today we reviewed the life of William Shakespeare and learned his rhyming scheme "iambic pentameter". Students translated the balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet and performed them for the class.

Character Objective

We welcomed each other back from break by playing some favorite warm up excercises and learning some new. We opened with our Energy Ball,  Swoosh GaGong, Zip Zap Zop, Ha!, and Actor's Contract. We then learned about Character Objective and split into duo's to present a scene using given character objectives. We ended class with a new improv game "Split Curtain".

Make Up Day/A Knight's Tale

Students were allowed to complete and turn in missing assignments. Those who were caught up enjoyed the film " A Knight's Tale" to complete our unit over Medieval Theatre.

Today, we took a quiz over Medieval Theatre and completed the film "Hunchback" and discussed how it demonstrated the Medieval Era and made connections to the quiz.

Medieval Theatre Review

Today, we played a Kahoot to review Medieval Theatre. Use the handout from last class as a study guide for the quiz.
When then began watching "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" to observe examples of the Middle Ages and make connections to our texts.

Students completed their moments before. At the end of class, they reflected in their notebooks their reactions and thoughts to the exercise.

Music Moments Before

Students selected a song of their choice and developed a set blocking as they enter the staged room. They had to come up and write down 3 "Moments before" before they entered the space. The audience wrote down what they felt happened off stage.
